The 6-shot guide

The 6 photos that get her to text first

You commented SHOOT. Good.

Here's the exact 6-photo setup from my own Hinge: what each photo has to do, and the kind of first message each one gets. Open your profile next to this page and go through it once.

Why you get likes but no messages

A like costs her one tap. A message costs her an idea. Your photos have to hand her that idea.

That's what my rule is for. Every photo on your profile should do three things:

Face: she can clearly see what you look like. Not tiny in the frame, no sunglasses, no cap shadow.
Life: she can picture a normal day with you. A place, something you do, people around you.
Hook: there's something in the photo she can ask about. That question is her first message.

The question marks

FACE LIFE HOOK 1 2 3 MATCH

Face + Life, no Hook

"Nice guy." She likes it and keeps scrolling. Most profiles live here.

Face + Hook, no Life

Fun photo, but she can't picture a day with you. It looks like one lucky picture.

Life + Hook, no Face

Great place, great story, but which one is you? She swipes before she finds out.

All three

She likes it and she knows what to say. That's the match.

The 30-second audit: go through your photos and give each one an F, an L and an H if it earns them. Anything without all three letters is a swap candidate. Most guys find two or three.

The 6 shots

Alexander at a seaside café table with a coffee, smiling into the camera

The face shot

Face

The jobYour first photo. Head and shoulders, real smile or relaxed face, someone else holds the phone.

Why it worksShe decides on your face before anything else. This photo wins the swipe, the other five win the message.

Her first message

This one doesn't need to get a message. It gets you in the door.

Get itSoft light, a few steps back, 2x zoom, and talk while the photo is taken. That's where the real smile comes from.

SkipSelfies, sunglasses, the driver's seat.

Alexander dancing on a town square while the people around him clap

The social shot

Life

The jobPeople around you, you in focus.

Why it worksIt shows other people enjoy being around you. She doesn't have to take your word for it.

Her first messageok where was this, it looks like so much fun

Get itIn the middle of a real moment, you closest to the camera or in the center.

SkipThe lineup of five guys where she has to guess which one is you.

Alexander walking a golden retriever on a lead in a park, laughing at the dog

The everyday shot

Life

The jobA normal Saturday. Walking the dog, getting coffee. A good spot for your full-body photo.

Why it worksIf this works out, most of your time together is normal Saturdays. Let her picture one.

Her first messageyour dog is cuter than you. what's his name

Get itWalk toward the camera at normal speed, look past it.

SkipStanding still and posing.

Alexander in a dark blazer on a restaurant terrace in the evening

The date preview

Life

The jobA place she'd like to be taken. A dinner terrace, a wine bar, an evening out.

Why it worksShe can see the first date before it happens. Half the planning is done.

Her first messagewhere is this terrace? asking for a friend (me)

Get itEvening light, a terrace or a nice bar behind you, sit relaxed and look away from the camera.

SkipBlurry bar photos at 2am.

Alexander sitting on top of an orange off-road car on black volcanic rock in Bali, mountains behind him

The story shot

Hook

The jobThe photo she asks about. A trip, an unusual place, something unexpected.

Why it worksThe best hook is a question only you can answer. Now she has to message you to get the story.

Her first messagewait where is this?? that view is insane

Get itBe doing something in the place. You can be smaller in the frame, she just has to see it's you.

SkipThe tourist pose in front of the famous landmark.

Alexander mixing a cocktail behind a rooftop bar at night while guests film him

The activity shot

Hook

The jobSomething you actually do with your hands. A sport, cooking, music, working a bar.

Why it worksBeing good at something is attractive, and a photo shows it faster than any bio line.

Her first messageok so are you making me a drink or what

Get itIn the middle of the action, looking at what you're doing.

SkipThe gym mirror and the after-workout selfie.

Plot twist: 5 of these 6 photos were never shot

Only one photo on this page came from a real camera: the jeep in Bali. The other five I made with AI, with my own tool, TinderProfile.ai. On my Hinge it's 4 out of 6, and those are the photos behind the 50+ likes.

Why I do it this way:

How I'd use it with this guide: make one photo for each of the 6 jobs, run every result through the F, L, H audit and keep only the ones that get all three letters.

Rather shoot them for real? Every tip in section 2 works with a friend and a phone too.

The order on your profile

Photo 1 wins the swipe. Photos 2 to 6 win the message. So:

Don't have good photos to start with?

That's exactly why I built TinderProfile.ai. You upload your own photos and get realistic dating photos that still look like you. Because in the end you still have to show up to the date as yourself.
